Yes, although we have quite a few burglaries so one needs to have good security systems. It is after all a suburb of a big city of more than 3 million people in Africa, so you always have to have good awareness.

Why is Pinelands called Pinelands?

Pinelands was originally a Victorian era farm named Uitvlugt that had thousands of pine trees planted in it, and was later deemed an economic failure by the Department of Forestry.

Who founded Pinelands?

Sir Richard Stuttaford

Despite the huge role that Sir Richard Stuttaford played in founding Pinelands, his name will not be found anywhere in the suburb. In the early days of Pinelands, Richard Stuttaford had agreed that Garden Cities could name a road in his honour. Three name plates were erected in the road.
